Services
I offer antenatal and postnatal support tailored to your individual needs at home in your natural breastfeeding environment.
While it is ideal to conduct consultations face to face, distance does not always allow, so Telehealth consultations are available.
Antenatal Preparation
Whether this will be your first breastfeeding experience, or you have had challenges previously, learning how to support your baby to breastfeed and stimulate your milk supply in the first critical hours and days from birth can make a significant difference to your breastfeeding journey. Let me prepare you for what to expect, how to get breastfeeding off to the best start, and how to navigate early breastfeeding issues.
Establishing Breastfeeding
Learning about normal newborn feeding behaviour while they recover from birth and establish breastfeeding can help to build your breastfeeding confidence and nurture you and your baby's special bond. Establishing the fundamentals of breastfeeding such as good position and latch and responding to your baby's cues right from your first breastfeed can help to avoid problems and set you up for a positive breastfeeding experience.
Navigating Challenges
Getting to know your baby's individual needs and communication cues while potentially managing unforeseen issues such as damaged nipples, mastitis or low milk suppy, as well as a range of other issues that you may be faced with on your breastfeeding journey, can be challenging and overwhelming. I can work with you and your family to navigate those challenges and help you achieve your breastfeeding goals.
If the above services don't appear to meet your needs then please call, text or email to discuss further.
About Me
At Nurtured Lactation I'm here to support you in a gentle and holistic way that nurtures you and your baby while providing effective evidence based care. After graduating as a Registered Nurse over 20 years ago I have always loved supporting mothers, babies, and families through pregnancy and the crucial early years of childhood. As a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Midwife, and Child and Family Health Nurse, I have spent the past seven years helping mothers with breastfeeding and newborn care. I believe in providing families with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed decisions about their breastfeeding journey and the care of their newborn. I hope to have the opportunity to support you and your family to achieve your breastfeeding goals.
